My 1st Experience @ IBS

In March, I volunteered with Eve Pearl Cosmetics and her team to work in the International Beauty Show (IBS) at the Jacob Javitts Center for 4 days.  It was an experience that I will always cherish and be grateful to have been able to do.  Honestly, I was afraid to do this intern cause I have never used Eve Pearl Cosmetics prior to it.  I'm a huge fan of her on YouTube and have been following her since 2009, but I know that is not the same thing. The first time we spoke over the phone, Eve told us what she expected as well as providing us with advise.  Her words really eased anyone's anxiety attacks especially mine, lol cause I felt so much better and said to myself "I can do this!"  It was so comforting to get good advise from her.

The first day was Friday, March 4, we were asked to be at the Javitts Center at 11:00 a.m. The center is HUGE and it was my first time even there (yes I live in NY, haha).  This was the "set-up" day but spent almost all day waiting for the equipment cause it didn't arrive until 3:00 p.m.  However, it was nice speaking and getting to know Eve Pearl's team and other interns during the wait.  All the ladies were very nice.  As soon as the equipment arrived, we got straight to work and we got the honor to meet Eve Pearl.  I had to leave @ 4:00 p.m. and Saturday was the second day of "set-up" but I couldn't make it so can't comment more...  Saturday evening, I prepared all my things to avoid doing last minute runs and went to sleep at 8:00 p.m. to be ready on Sunday the first day of the show.

Sunday, March 6, my day would start by waking up at 4:30 a.m. to get fully prepared with makeup on, leave my house at 6:30 a.m. so I can arrive at 8:00 a.m.  We were expected to be at the Javitts Center 8:30 a.m.  I've always seen the madness on YouTube about these shows but it's a whole different ball game in person.  Doors opened at 9:00 a.m. and it was CRAZY how so many people were coming from every angle.  I was placed to work 'Contacts', which means I was the one bugging you as you walked to sign up for E.P mailing list, try the products and/or get a free makeover.  At first, I felt awkward, but after a while it was cool.  At the end of the day it wasn't so cool on my feet standing 10 hours straight...God Bless You All in the Profession that requires standing!!!!  Eve held a class to talk and show how her products work and I was fortunate to assist in this class.  I learned so much by what she had to say.  She's a really smart business woman and you can learn a lot from her.  Her class is worth every bit cause she can make you feel so comfortable and help with any fears you may have just wash away.  It was confident to know that she started as a secretary (like me) and now raising her own empire...LESSON - NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS NO MATTER WHAT "WALLS" STANDS IN YOUR WAY...  The show ended at 6:30 p.m. and with a group photo with the team.  I "limped" not walked outside to a pouring night and thankfully my family picked me up.  I was greeted with flowers and of course my boys sweet smiles that made all the pain go away.

As I got ready @ 5:20 a.m.

Pics before opening and after

I arrived home with full energy like ADHD, hahaha telling my family my experience.  It's funny because during the moment of all the madness, you don't feel tired, hungry, pain or anything until things are wrapped up then you feel every ache and pain.  I soaked my feet in warm/hot water and prepared myself for the next day.  Monday, I woke up the same time and did the same routine when I remembered I had to handle something very important.
I arrived late to the show and left at 4:00 p.m. so that day went very quick for me.  It was a bit slow, which surprised me cause I thought it would have been just the opposite due to  the bad weather on Sunday.  I continued to work with contacts and observed more & more the makeovers.  It's very simple and the same way she shows on all her YT videos.  Her products are amazing!!!!  I saw people with so many flaws and once they got touched up you wouldn't even think they did.  Their skin would look so beautiful like they didn't have anything on and was "perfectly" born with ravishing skin (we wish!).  I was becoming more anxious to get my hands on doing makeovers, but kept my composer, haha.  So I left to rush home cause my my 5 yr. old son was receiving student of the month award @ 7p.m. and of course I wouldn't miss that for the world.  Congratulations Marcus!!!!

Tuesday, the last day of the show, I arrived at 8 a.m. hoping to get a makeover by one of E.P's team members or even better Eve Pearl herself before doors opened to the public, but it just didn't work out.  Doors opened at 9:00 a.m. and a little upset
that I didn't have any makeup on and my skin mainly my face was out of control due to a health issue I'm experiencing, I was uncomfortable being that I was out of my element, but I was ready to work.

Today was Student Day, which means most students studying in the field would come like a school trip.  It also meant that each booth had to be alert due to many past incidents of items being stolen.  Still a little upset about not having any makeup, I was approached by a sweet young girl who asked me if I can give her makeover.  It was like a switch button -  before 9:00 a.m. it was off and as soon as that girl asked me that question it turned on.

I started to apply makeup at 9:00 a.m. and didn't stop until 3:45 p.m. I didn't even realized it was almost time for me to go home. I was so shocked how I worked through all those hours.  However, it felt great to do makeovers and seeing the customer happy with there final look.  This is what makes me feel happy and the motivation to continue my love for makeup.

Becoming a full time makeup artist is very hard especially since it's very competitive, but I really enjoy doing this intern cause it gave me more of an insight of this industry.  I look forward to working with Eve Pearl and team again and finally being able to be at a show.

FINALLY!!!!! I FOUND the NEW Wet & Wild Palettes

Damn, it took me so long to find these NEW palettes from Wet & Wild Cosmetics, but now I got it, yeah!!!!  There are 6 NEW palettes I believe and it costs $2.99 each at Walgreens.  I heard that this collection is permanent, but I don't know if that is true so I didn't take any chances and picked up 5.

I really like Wet & Wild Cosmetics because the colors have a good payoff, it's affordable and have a variety of colors & texture - matte, shimmer, etc.  It can be purchased at Rite Aide, Walgreens and even Pathmark Supermarket.  I recommend these palettes especially to those who are just starting to do makeup cause these palettes are labeled on the eyeshadow itself how to use (eyelid, crease & browbone starting from bottom to top) and if you turn it to the back of the palette there is a picture as well showing details.

FRONT
BACK

The 5 I purchased are: #331 'I Dream of Greenie'; #333 'I Got Good Jeans'; #334 'I'm Getting Sunburned'; #336 'Spoiled Brat'; and #382B 'Cool As Cucumber' (Not apart of the NEW collection).

For swatches & info, click on the link below to check out The Original QueenBMakeup blog.  She's a BAD makeup artist.  She uses the most wildest colors and create such a beautiful look...she's awesome!!!

L to R: #334 'I Got Sunburned' and #333 'I Got Good Jeans'

The brown in #334 (middle 'crease') is what attracted me to this palette.  It kind of reminds me of Stila 'Twig' but it turns out to be completely different yet beautiful.  Blue is my favorite color so of course I had to pick up #333, but honestly I picked up this palette for the gold.  After seeing swatches on YT, I was sold to that pretty gold.  The 'browbone' and 'crease' color reminds me of MAC's NEW Collection Jeanius so I swatched it (sorry no pics of comparison) and yes it's close.

L to R: #382B 'Cool As A Cucumber'; #331 'I Dream of Greenie'; & #336 'Spoiled Brat'
I like the green ('eyelid') in palette #382B, it's very pretty along with the other colors in it.  #331 is perfect for Spring and #336 is perfect for a night out.

I started playing with the colors and this is the look I came up with (half a face, lol) using 2 palettes #333 and #334.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know my eyelash is coming off.  It's ready to be in the garbage but since I got so excited to play with the colors I just added without cutting it.  And the pencil in my hair, very bad habit - I'm a mother (doing homework) and a secretary...can't say anymore, lol.

EYES:
NYX Jumbo Pencil 'Milk' all over my eye as a base
#334 Brown e/s ('crease') above the crease swiping it across using Sigma #224 brush and outer V

#333 Blue/Gray e/s (browbone) on the middle to inner lid
#333 Blue/Gray e/s (browbone) on the browbone

Hi,

Happy Birthday to my sister Karina!!!!

Hello,

I'm so happy to spend time with my sister Karina on her birthday.  We are both busy with our back to back children and our busy lives, which mainly takes both of our time.  So it was very nice just to have "my" time and being together.  We went shopping and did a lot of window shopping, lol, but it's all good, hahahaha.  I took my sister to MAC to get a makeover and oh, boy, so much have changed in MAC.  I was very disappointed cause as a paying customer you get use to ("spoiled") having it one way and when that is scratched out well it's a disappointment.  Back then you received a complimentary "free" makeover as long as you spent over $50.00, which anyone whose shopped in MAC most def know you will go over so it was a "sweet" deal.  Now, if you want to get a makeover at a MAC Store, you must pay a fee of $50.00 to get your makeup done and you will receive a free mascara.  In addition, if you want to purchase items, which is not mandatory then you pay $50.00 for your makeover and the cost of your purchase.  I was upset but got over it quickly, however, after making our purchases, I asked for a sample of a pigment and was told "we don't give samples."  That response just completely made me mad all over again...UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!  So we strolled over to MAC in Macy's and thank god they still have sense (flexibility).  You can receive a complimentary makeover as long as you purchase 5 items.  Karina is a huge Wonder Woman fan but most of there collection was SOLD OUT so what's the next best thing - Lady Gaga.  We liked her soft yet smokey look on her board ad so I thought it would be a nice look for my sister.

AFTER

lady gaga ,lady gaga Viva Glam

The Lady Gaga NEW lipstick is really pretty.  I thought it was darker based on the ad, but up close it's lighter and glides on beautiful.

** A similar color to the NEW Lady Gaga is NYX Round Lipstick 'Rea.' **

I didn't purchase it, but Karina did and again it's a very pretty color.  I did purchase items from the Wonder Woman's Collection: Mineralize Skinfinish 'Pink Power'; Lipglass 'Athena's Kisses' (bright fuchsia) for me and 'Secret Identity' (soft brown/copper) as a b-day gift for Karina and it went very well over Gaga's lipstick; and last 4 e/s palette 'Valiant' (green colors).  So after Karina and I made our purchases, I asked if I can get a sample of a pigment and she asked for a glitter and we were given our samples UNBELIEVABLE!!!  I got 'Marine Ultra' pigment (dk blue/violet) and Karina got 'Reflects Bronze' glitter (bronze/gold) both gorgeous colors.

** I also bought Too Faced NEW Insurance Shadow Glitter Primer...OMG...this product is AMAZING!!!!!!  I will do a review and discuss further about it. **

After hours in the mall, we were tired and exhausted so we headed home to be greeted by our brother Luis with a surprise birthday cake.

PS - so prior going to the mall, I was under the impression that my sister Karina was going to get a makeover using the Wonder Woman's Collection and/or look, but she didn't.  However, I did my makeup based on one of the biggest and baddest bitch...yup, you know....

Sexy Natural Valentine's Day look with or without glasses xoxo

Hello,

I know many girls who like to keep it completely simple on the eyes so I used neutral colors of brown and a dash of purple to create this look with BOLD red lips to make it "pop."  I kept it very simple using eyeshadow colors from MAC Cosmetics.  I was going through my makeup kit and came across an oldie "Hello Kitty" palettes.  It's been such a long time so I decided to use both palettes 'Lucky Tom' and 'Too Dolly' inspired by Mila Kunis Cosmopolitan Cover - BEAUTIFUL!!! Click on link below to view pic.

** If you're interested on how to create Mila's look, check out Shae aka 'ThatGirlShaeXo' who did a fabulous job.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq1R84dp_r0 **

Hmm, it sure makes me think how careful I should be spending for MAC's upcoming Wonder Woman's Collection.  You love it for the moment and in a box/kit it goes.    I don't know about you, but I was so happy when I heard about this collection, but now that it's here, I'm like "that's it?!"  I like the packaging but I wish her face would have been on the pan(s) itself like 'Hello Kitty' and 'Disney's Villains.'  Oh, well...
