Hurricane Sandy & Halloween 2012

The East Coast got hit with one of the hardest storms ever - Sandy - on Sunday, October 28, 2012 late at night.  A flood watch advisory with high gusty winds was in effect and many areas were asked to evacuate their homes.  Honestly, New York rarely gets hit with anything as hard, except 09/11/2001, which is an event we will never forget so many families didn't take the advisory seriously.

As a result to hurricane Sandy, so many homes, businesses and communities were severely damaged or worst completely "wiped out."  The worst of all was so many deaths in a horrific way and 35 lives taken.

The saddest loss was the Staten Island mother who lost both her boys in the MOST TRAGIC way - read below.

Three homes down from mine a tree had fallen on a neighbor's lawn.  Thankfully, no one was injured or hurt.  Sadly, three blocks from mine a 29 year old man lost his life when a tree fell into his home and strut him.

A few blocks away from my home.

My family from Rockaway Park took these pictures of what's left of Rockaway Beach....so sad :(

On Halloween, New York City was still dealing with no power and heat in some areas, limited transit services and over crowded busesIn my neighborhood, we had many large trees and electric wires down.  I wanted to make the best Halloween I could for my boys so I took them trick-o-treating in Brooklyn an area that didn't get hit too hard.  My oldest son wasn't too happy but they had fun.  Due to the storm, I didn't get my costume so I created my own.

Captain America & The Amazing Spider-man!!!

I called it - Spider Queen, lol

My husband & kids carving :)

I continue to pray to all the families who are still struggling and have loss a loved one.

I was happy to help and donate clothes and coats to the families in the Rockaway residence.
